How Freedom Clinic Works

Every person receiving prescription medication through The Freedom Clinic needs to have an initial consultation with me. You can book an appointment here.

Assuming that you and I both agree that weight loss medication is a good choice for you, and there is no medical reason why you shouldn’t have a prescription for it, then I will send your prescription to our supplier who will send your medication to your home address (or other address of your choosing) within a couple of days. These medications need to be kept refrigerated until opened, so someone needs to be at the address to take delivery of the medication and immediately store it in your refrigerator. The need for refrigeration is also the reason why delivery can take a couple of days, rather than same or next day delivery as we have all come to expect in our 24/7 world. Cold chain delivery simply takes longer as it’s more complicated. But let us worry about that!!

If you’re just starting medication, or if you are receiving a prescription for a higher dose than previously, then we want you to try it for at least a couple of weeks before deciding what to do next – unless you experience intrusive side effects, in which case please do contact us. And this is true for any other questions you may have. Please just call, or email. We will respond as quickly as we can.

Assuming it goes well, which it usually does, about a week before your next prescription is due you need to tell us what you would like to do for the next month. When we issue a prescription for you, we will send you a questionnaire that we ask you to return to us towards the end of that prescription, telling us what you would like to do.

Your options will usually be:

  • I’m just starting out and I would like to increase my dose
  • I’m happy on this dose and I would like to continue on the same dose
  • I’m happy with my weight loss and I’m close to my goal, or experiencing side effects, and I would like to reduce my dose
  • I’m not sure, and I would like to talk to a doctor please

If you would like to talk to a doctor, then we will arrange an appointment for you accordingly. If you already know what you want to do, then assuming all is well we will process your prescription based on your answers in the questionnaire.

If anything has changed in your medical history, or if we have any questions about your request for your next prescription then we will contact you quickly to ask you for the information that we need, so that we can issue your prescription in plenty of time so that you don’t miss a dose.

Every three months we will need to have a consultation with you, to review your treatment plan and your progress, to ensure that you are getting the best possible care from us and to answer any questions you may have. This can be by video or telephone, and often takes just a few minutes if all is well, but it is an important part of your care.
